With advances in online communication, we are able to share data in scale and never dreamed of speed, accelerating our pace of production of knowledge and discoveries.

The AcaMed is the result of this effervescent context. It is an innovative medical and academic community online, open to free participation of more than 5000 scientific societies and existing research worldwide. The initiative was born in Japan, whose government treats as a priority the fusion of practice and medical academic research with the Information Technology (IT).

Created first as a site in 2009, and then as enhanced online community platform, in 2010, AcaMed allows the sharing of real-time information about clinical cases, research and debate. Health professionals, scientists, research institutions and academies from all over the world have here the opportunity to disclose, discuss, reflect and consult issues related to what is most advanced in the medical field.

Besides acting as a wide network of medical academia connection, the AcaMed uses sophisticated IT to process information, making them flow so organized throughout the online community, available to the interested public segment. The aim is to induce that knowledge to produce more knowledge - but in a totally safe environment for the accumulation and dissemination of data, with full respect for intellectual property. To ensure the circulation of efficiently and safely ideas, AcaMed exempts scientific societies and research of this kind of task, allowing them to focus on their core business.

As a result, the network of members of the online community grows exponentially. Already circulating on the Acamed about 750 groups, institutions and medical associations and 140 000 health professionals, and the platform knowledge of repertoire reaches a total of over 7000 published articles and cases.

In this wide audience, the Acamed offers a number of other services: for groups and medical societies, digital tools for managing their members; for health professionals, tools for sharing, collaboration and discussion of scientific topics, in addition to monitoring schedules of associations. All in social networking environment, with access by computer, tablet or mobile.

In another demonstration of the infinite IT job opportunities in the area, AcaMed still leans towards remote medicine, external storage field imaging exams - a service that meets the needs of countries with large regional disparities in many locationsThey do not have trained health professionals. Beyond the confines of academia therefore Acamed platform also lends itself to encourage improvements in the management and operational efficiency in the medical field.

We believe there are no limits to the expansion of this specialized online community - and not to create services that can contribute to the development of its activity.
